WorkAbility IV Programs
(CSU & UC)
WorkAbility IV (WAIV) programs enhances the collaboration between select California University campuses and the DOR. The WAIV program serves individuals who are DOR consumers, attending California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC), and desiring employment. The first WAIV program was established in 1992 and there are now approximately 8 WAIV Cooperative programs statewide that are administered through third party cooperative agreements with local CSUs and UCs.
Similar to the WAIII cooperative programs, WAIV services include vocational assessment, internships, employment preparation, job development, placement and retention, and short-term supports. Consumers are referred to the WAIV program by their DOR Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for enhanced, coordinated vocational services to help them obtain meaningful employment.
