National Disability Employment
Awareness Month 2024
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual nationwide recognition that highlights the skills, diversity, and talent that people with disabilities bring to the workforce. The theme for NDEAM 2024 is Access to Good Jobs for All.
This year’s theme coincides with DOR’s ongoing mission to ensure that individuals with disabilities are employed in competitive integrated settings and earning a living wage that will allow them to live independently in their community of choice. It is also aligned with the State’s commitment as an employer to implement initiatives that provide a pathway to people with disabilities to state employment and other industries throughout the state, to create a diverse and inclusive workforce that is the definition of a true California for All.
NDEAM celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive policies and practices that benefit employees and employers alike. NDEAM may take place once a year but hiring qualified and talented people with disabilities is something that companies can do every day.
